Man, time flies, doesn't it? The first two months of this school year have been pretty hectic, to say the least. Here's my epiphany of the day:
This morning, I was walking my dog, Bentley, down to the park. Now, Bentley is an amazing dog, but he has a flaw. And that is, when he decides to leave you, he leaves, and may not come back for 20-30 minutes. Now, I get it, he wants his independence. But it's not exactly the ideal situation. So, because of this non-ideal situation, we got a shock collar for him. Anyways, I had brought him down to the park and I was throwing the toy, he was retrieving it, and bringing it back to me. After a while, he got bored, set the toy down, and started to do something else (to be more precise, sniff the ground...ahhh, the complex mind of a dog, will we ever understand them?). Because he was so entranced by sniffing dirt, he didn't come when I said. So to wake him up, I pushed the button that lets off a high pitched beep. He wouldn't come. I tried again, called him, he didn't come. I got a bit frustrated. That's when I realized....
Isn't this a lot like the way we act with God? We get entranced with Him for a while, and everything else around us dissapears. But then, after awhile, we get "bored" with Him, and go off and do something else. When he gives us the quiet "beep", it's just to wake us up. When we completely reject him and start running off, he gives us the "shock" to get our attention and say "Hey over there, don't you think it would be a lot safer for you to come back? The world can be a dangerous place!"
Just another epiphany....tell me what you think :)
