What to Say, What to Say.

Man, I haven't been on here in a while. So much has happened. Since the beginning of last semester, I went to Peru [http://2012journey2peru.blogspot.com/], attended PSEO at a local college, and moved to the glorious state of Virginia. Not too much to get a girl's head spinning, right? I'm just joshin'. It's been quite a ride, and I wouldn't have been able to do it without my friends, family, and Savior. Even though change can be hard, it can also be really worth it. I wrote this on my computer on September 7th, 2011 after I have moved from the small town of Cloquet, MN to the much larger area of Minneapolis:

"Change is a funny thing. When you’re 14, you can’t wait until you’re 15. When you’re eight, you can’t wait until you have nieces and nephews [Yes, that was my dream when I was eight. With 5 older siblings, can you blame me?]. But at those ages, you never really think about the change that will bring. When you hit those changes, you are given a shock. There are several changes that have happened to me throughout my life...But there are things that can prepare you for change. Here’s a list [Yes, I'm a HUGE list maker]:

  1. Remember that in order for things to get better, they have to be worse. We have to go through the storm before the rainbow.
  2. Remember that nothing better can come without a slight change in something.
  3. Remember that change is something that God uses to form us.
  4. Remember that there is something that will never ever change…God.
Change is a good thing. The thing you have to be careful of is how you handle it. Will you pray and ask for God’s help, or will you do it in your own strength? [Phillipians 4:13]
Over and Out!"

Yes, that was my writing style back then. Has it changed? And yes, I did end my entry with "Over and Out". However, I do think that my 14 year old self had some wise words. I'm not taking the credit...pshh..no way. But lets look at that list again [See, they can be helpful].

  1. Remember that in order for things to get better, they have to be worse. We have to go through the storm before the rainbow.
  2. Remember that nothing better can come without a slight change in something.
So often when I go through change I forget these two things. It's simple, but let's just take a step back and think about them. When you live in a life where nothing changes, nothing can get better. Change has to happen. It's natural. It's God given. It just has to be there. The end.

    3. Remember that change is something that God uses to form us.

This is SO true. God uses change to form us. How are we supposed to grow if we don't learn to handle both the hardships and the celebrations? I've learned from personal experience. Although moving for the first time to Minneapolis was hard, I know it was SO worth it. I met some amazing people, I grew in love with my youth group, I got to be apart of so many things and learn so much, and God was with me

    4. Remember that there is something that will never ever change…God.

God doesn't change. He's reliable. When you go through things where you don't know if you'll make it, He's there. Rely on Him. I've learned this from experience too. Whether it be a simple "Hey God, I don't know what's going on here, but I need your help." or "What's up? Jesus, be with me." those statements can really make a difference. God can and will show up. [Matthew 7:7]

Cliche? Perhaps, but it's true. God has always showed up for me when I go through major and minor changes. The things that people don't really even notice.

Ummm...I didn't expect to write about this. It just kinda happened, but that's cool. That's how some things just work...especially writing. Well, that's what I've got. It's good being back. I hope I can keep this whole blogging thing up. :)

P.S. And for those who are wondering, NO. I am not an Aunt yet. But hey, it's all in God's timing right? [Happy Thoughts, Happy Thoughts, Happy Thoughts...] ;)
