Be a Light

More than 2000 years ago, Jesus said:

Ø"Here's another way to put it: You're here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We're going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light-bearers, you don't think I'm going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I'm putting you on a light stand. Now that I've put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you'll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven. "
Matthew 5:14-16

In 2012, Kari Jobe sings:
"We are the Light of the World, We are the City on a Hill. We are the Light of the World and we gotta, we gotta, we gotta let the light shine."
{We Are by Kari Jobe}

Being a light for Jesus is something we should take seriously. However, it's not as easy as 1, 2, 3.    Being a light for Jesus is difficult, but I believe it's necessary. If you have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ you know that it has countless benefits (not to mention eternal life). Why should we keep this from others? Why are we afraid to speak out and stand out? Why not take a leap of faith, and trust God to do the rest?

Believe me, I'm not the type of person that loves to be viewed as "different". But being different is an occupational hazard of being a Christian. Look at Revelations 3:16. We are called to not be lukewarm-but to be either hot or cold. Being a Christian isn't just a title, it's a lifestyle. We need to spread that to others. {Mark 16:15}
